!14!

By Tara Zandra | January 30, 2013

My darling oldest child turned 14 today! We woke her with the traditional playing of the birthday songlist and she cowered under her covers and yelled at us to stop it (also a tradition).

For gifts she was given a complete set of Harry Potter books from the UK which means book 1 is actually called Harry Potter and the Philospher’s Stone. She loved them and now she can stop complaining about her “Americanized” books.

We also gave her money to spend at a special store tomorrow and Daisy gave her a fish tank as Tabitha has been saying lately she really wants a betta again. We’ll take her to pick out her own fish, plus, have you ever tried to wrap a fish? Lastly, we gave her sweet dreams in the form of a Peeta pillowcase.

I served her one of her favorite breakfasts- toasted everything bagel with cream cheese and a side of veggie sausage. Then it was off to Disneyland!

It was a beautiful day and we made the most of our time there. She rode Space Mt., Star Tours, then we went across to Califoria Adventure so she could get a giant candy apple.

Oh, and hug Mickey.

Then it was on to California Screamin’ and Midway Mania. Back across to Disneyland where we had lunch at the new Carnation Cafe. I personally hated it and Daisy started saying she felt sick, but Chris and Tabi were happy. Actually I take back hating it- I loved our appetizer of deep friend pickle spears with dipping sauce. Man were they good. I would totally go back just for them, but I will never eat their veggie burger again.

Anyway, at this point we had to go, because kids gotta dance. Always.

Overall, I think she had a great day!

What a great day. Sending Tabitha a belated Happy 14th Birthday! And man, I LOVE deep-fried pickles, only one place in town serves them and we go just for them sometimes. B will be 14 in a few short months too, it’s just so weird to think about.
