Finally able to relax

By Tara Zandra | December 19, 2008

I’ve been in go mode all day starting when I overslept and woke with less than one hour to get all three of us completely ready to go. I much prefer leisurely mornings, that’s for sure. A friend of mind dropped of her daughter as she does every week so I could take her to book club with us. But today she brought me a Christmas gift to say thank you and I realized this is the first time I’ve ever been on the receiving end of the Christmas thank you gift. We’ve been making candy all week to give to others and I must say I was really touched that she went out of her way to get something for me. It was totally personal too right down to the Disney bag she put it in. Then she lingered for a bit and we chatted (which I love doing with her) so it was a really nice way to start the morning.

But then we were off for the day! First book club, then straight to Park Day where everyone, and I do mean every other family there, was getting ready to head up to the snow together. I really wanted to go too, not because I like snow, because I don’t, but because my kids really want to go and I know we would have had a great time with all our friends. But alas, twas not to be this time. So we stayed an hour and a half and then came home to have lunch and make candied walnuts then we got ready to go out again. This time we went to a makeup lesson for violin since Tabitha won’t have a lesson next week and then directly to gymnastics for Tabitha where we handed out more candy to coaches. Then we went to my in-laws’ because they were taking Tabitha out to a Christmas show tonight. Then Daisy and I came home and got Chris and we immediately went out to grab dinner and then back to my in-laws for a bit of Christmas mischief with their decorations. Finally we came home and I had to put Daisy to bed and I’ve sat here at the computer ever since. Chris is in the living room practicing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer on the guitar currently. Not sure if we’ll watch anything or not but we’ll be up for another hour at least to wait for Tabitha to come home. But at least my mind has finally been able to stop racing and I can relax a bit.
