That was a lovely Thanksgiving weekend :) We started the morning off with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I never really enjoyed watching parades in the past, but I found myself enjoying it this year. I didn’t just sit down and watch though, I prepared roasted asparagus and tangy green beans for dinner.

We went to my in-laws’ house around 1 o’ clock and enjoyed appetizers and I watched a couple episodes of the “I Love Lucy” marathon with the girls. Dinner was wonderful with not only the veggies I brought, but also stuffing, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, rolls, pickles and olives. Oh, there were cranberries too which Chris loves and we found out Daisy enjoys them as well. Dessert was a delicious icebox cake.

After dessert, my BIL, Chris, the kids and myself headed out to see “Bolt.” Daisy and I opted for the regular version whereas everyone else saw the Disney Digital 3D version. Daisy was really looking forward to the movie, but it turns out it was too intense for her. I didn’t realize it was PG or I would have researched parental advisories beforehand. She’ll tell you she loved it, but there are portions of the movie that had her sitting on my lap with her eyes closed and covering her ears.

Friday morning I went out around 7:30am for a few sales. No toy areas for me, so nothing crazy. I hit American Greetings for their Webk!nz sale. Then I went to Joann’s Fabrics where I got to be annoyed for close to an hour. I’m sewing aprons for Tabitha and Daisy and also a matching one for each of their American Dolls. They won’t match each other though, they’ll just match their dolls. I was able to use a coupon, but feel that I would have done better to wait until the fabric went on sale instead and avoided the extra blood pressure points that I surely gained. Anyway, after that I went to Hallmark to trade in my punch card for a free Webk!nz and when I walked in they gave me a $5 off coupon so I also bought the girls their ornaments for this year. Tabitha got a High School Musical locker and Daisy got Rocket from the Little Einsteins. Both ornaments play music and the girls were very happy with them when I gave them their ornaments after I returned home.

Once home, I picked up everyone else and we went to Walgreens for yet another Webk!nz promotion. Obviously these were not for Christmas though since the girls were with me. I think that’s it for the rest of the day. We all did whatever around the house and I know we had leftovers for dinner.

Saturday we ran a few errands and ended the day with dinner out with Chris’s family for his birthday. He chose Claim Jumper restaurant and we had a wonderful time. Chris received a new ipod from his birthday owing to the fact that he lost his last month at the gym. After dinner, Tabitha and I dropped Chris and Daisy off at home and went out for some mother/daughter time. We went to the mall mainly to look around and then to Target where we bought a few things to get ready for Chris’s birthday.

Sunday morning I got up early and decorated the dining room with balloons and brought the gifts out of their hiding place and set them up on the table. Once Chris was up, the girls greeted him with much jumping around and general merriment. I pinned a “Birthday Boy” ribbon on him and then he settled in to open his gifts. From Tabitha he received NCAA 09 football game for the Wii, Daisy got him cards to help him with his guitar chords as he been teaching himself to play for the last couple months, and I got him a book entitled “Physics of the Impossible” which attempts to explain whether or not all that stuff in science fiction books and movies is even remotely feasible. Chris is a fan of science fiction books, so I thought this would interest him.

Chris chose to go out to a vegetarian restaurant for his birthday. It was wonderful! I had a “shrimp” cocktail which though it wasn’t the same texture as shrimp, it certainly had the right flavor. I enjoyed it and now don’t need another one for at least 5 years. For my entrée I had tacos that were “carnitas” style. Those were incredible, let me tell you. Daisy simply had a veggie hot dog, Tabs had soup and rice and beans plus a fruit smoothie and Chris had a tamale and a BBQ platter.

Remember that birthday boy ribbon I pinned on his shirt? The waitress noticed and fired up the stereo with a silly version of “Happy Birthday” and brought him some pie with a candle. I sat there laughing my head off at the whole thing. I loved when other patrons clapped for him. It was a wonderful way to end the weekend.
