Daisy’s Choice

By Tara Zandra | March 17, 2008

Last week Daisy was takena myriad of places whether she wanted to go or not; so today I offered her a pick of choosing where we go, or going nowhere at all. She chose a mall. But it had to meet her specifications. It had to have a Disney Store, toy store, Hello Kitty store, and a play area. There are two malls near us that would qualify so I gave Tabitha the option of which one and off we went. I liked Tabitha’s choice because there is also a stellar Barnes and Noble at that mall.

We went into all of Daisy’s places, B&N and perused Gymboree, Gap Kids, and Children’s Place. We also went into Limited Too because some of their Webkinz are buy one get one free. We selected our two and the salesgirl was extremely eager to make a large sale. She asked if we had our trading cards binder yet. I replied in the negative but said we were fine with just the stuffs. She says “so you’ll take the binder too?” No, I won’t, as I believe I said two seconds ago. She then proceeded to hard sell me all the Webkinz accessories which I had no problem saying no because not only was she annoying me, but they overprice all their Webkinz stuff. Anyway, she then moves on to the Too Bucks promotion and tells me it’s double the earnings today. But I don’t want to spend $50 for a savings of a hypothetical future purchase. I just want the darn stuffs! She then says, and I’m not kidding, “Tell you what, you pick any outfit in the store and I’ll give you 25% off.” Now that’s not a bad deal but I wasn’t there to buy an outfit. I’m wondering if there was some kind of contest and she needed sales. If there was, she would have gotten a lot future with me just telling me she was trying to up her numbers to win a contest. I might have actually bought an outfit then.

Daisy fell asleep on the way home, but woke up just a little over an hour later and it became apparent she has Tabitha’s cold. This is not going to help me get any sleep in the near future. I feel like she’s a newborn again because I’m obsessed with how little sleep I’m getting.

After dinner, Tabitha and I went out to purchase sand for a homemade sandtable, but alas, there was none to be found. Toys R Us directed me to Home Depot and the Home Depot people kept sending me to the area with cement sand and plaster sand. I guess so the girls can practice their mob skills? I mean, it might be fun, up until that first rain and then it’s just a solid block with nothing more than the top of a shovel peeping out.

We also stopped at Joann’s so I could get a pattern for an Easter dress for Daisy and Tabitha went on and on about how she needed me to sew her one, especially if I was sewing Daisy one. So now I have two patterns, no fabric, no time and a sick 3 year old. I haven’t a clue how I’m going to pull these dresses out of thin air, but I’m going to have two disappointed kids if I fail. I guess tomorrow we’re off to the quilt shop to find the perfect fabrics. And we still need to find sand.
