picnic-ing and singing

By Tara Zandra | August 19, 2007

We decided last minute to go on a picnic this evening at the park. We went to a small park that is almost always deserted and tonight was no exception. We munched on our dinner then Chris and I watched the kids play on the slides. After a while he and I joined them despite our hip-to-slide-ratio. When it was near dark we left to go to Coldstone. Mmm. I had mint with Kit-Kat mix in, Tabitha had watermelon sorbet with graham cracker pie crust mix in, and Chris and Daisy shared strawberry with Oreo cookies. On the way home “Hey There Delilah came on the radio and we were all singing along (even Daisy) so we decided to play American Idol Karaoke once we got in the house. Chris beat Tabitha and I overall and we all had loads of fun. We were supposed to go to Califorina Adventure, but I wasn’t in the mood. I think we had a great evening though, so I don’t regret the decision at all.

I never mentioned yesterday, but we went out to the fairgrounds so Tabitha could submit her entries for a couple contests. She entered a photo in the photography contest and also wrote a story for the fairy tale contest. We’ll go in a couple weeks when the fair is open and see if she won anything. We mainly spent the rest of the day going on errands, including taking my car to the mechanic. Our bad car-ma struck again and the air conditioner in both cars suddenly stopped working. Both. Figures. We took mine in and got out relatively cheap, which was a pleasant surprise. We’ll take Chris’s car in soon and hope for the same outcome.

I went over to my mom’s today and also welcomed my sister home. She’s been in England for the last 8 weeks for a summer study program. So we spent a couple hours going over her pictures and her telling me stories. It was a wonderful opportunity and I’m so happy she was able to go. In addition to England, she made it into Germany, Italy, Ireland, and France so lots of interesting pictures. In Italy she went somewhere that Chris, Tabitha and I saw on “A 1000 Places to See Before You Die” so I guess she can cross that off her list.

Hey Z - do you happen to have that “Plain White Tees” album (or itunes as the case may be)?
I was curious if the rest is as catchy as that tune?
Anyway - the rest of your day sounds great, I love the pic of the girls spinning, such fun!
