Alaska

By Tara Zandra | May 8, 2007

I’m feeling great, but still have a few symptoms and I think Daisy may be coming down with it as well so we won’t be going to Kindermusik today. I just hate when other people go to classes while they are potentially contagious and I don’t want to be that which I hate.

Never did get that bathroom cleaned yesterday so it’s top of the to-do list today.

I had Tivo’d a show called “1000 Places to See Before You Die” and Tabitha, Chris and I watched it last night after Daisy went to bed. Apperently it’s based on a book of the same name which is kind of neat because during the show a little tid bit will pop up and tell you what page of the book to go to for more info on whatever they are talking about.

The episode we watched last night was about Alaska. Now the three of us are rather hyped to go there someday. There’s a lodge that caters to your every need, provides all food (including accomodating a vegetarian diet) and takes care of all your excursions. They even offer yoga so this is really our kind of place. The price tag, however, was a bit much to swallow coming in at a hefty $12,500 plus another $2000+ on airfare to get there. So this particular trip will happen, just later. We’ll stick to Disney World for now :)

After Tabitha went to bed, Chris and I talked about where we want to travel with the kids. In the past I’ve felt there was so little time before one of the girls couldn’t or wouldn’t want to travel with us but once we talked about exactly all the places we want to go, it seems much more manageable. Our immediate plans are Disney World a few times (we have 3 planned trips over the next 4 years) and a few driving trips (like Grand Canyon, San Francisco, that kind of thing). Beyond that, I couldn’t tell you what order, but we’re thinking for our country we want to go to Alaska, Hawaii, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Georgia, and Ohio for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We’d like to go a couple places in Canada as well, plus we’ll need to take Daisy to Maine since she’s never been and we want to do a driving trip of California to follow the trail of the Missions. That’s a lot of places, it’s no wonder many Americans never leave the continent! LOL Then of course, there’s all the places overseas including my need to visit every Disney theme park ºoº

The reason we’re watching this show is to keep us excited about traveling since it can seem too far into the future or maybe not worth it. But watching the gorgeous scenery and seeing the fabulous activities keeps us knowing how much it really is worth it.
