Thoroughly enjoyable

By Tara Zandra | April 4, 2009

Today was just that, thoroughly enjoyable :) Chris and I stayed up last night until 1:30 watching Friends and finished season 5. Needless to say I did not get up with my 6:45am alarm though I did get up with the 7:40am alarm as it was in the form of a Daisy. I skipped out on the yoga which I wish I hadn’t but what can I do about it now?

Chris went out for his car appt. (free 5,000 mile check-up) and when he came home the girls and I were ready for the day. We started off with Tabitha’s “Family Fun Jar.” It’s something she created for a Girl Scout badge. Basically it’s a jar that she decorated and inside there are slips of paper with family activities written on them. Today was the first weekend we haven’t had something scheduled so I had promised her we would do two activities. First slip drawn said to take a walk so off we went in the fine 72º weather. Chris and I decided to surprise the kids with a destination of Juice It Up but the surprise was on us when we found it had closed and turned into Chai Cafe. Not what we had in mind. But a Joghurt just opened so we gave it a try. It was very good and a nice treat, I’m sure we’ll be back, especially with it being only a half mile away.

Once home we pulled one more slip of paper and it was to play a game so we got in a few rounds of Hungry, Hungry, Hippo and one game of Yahtzee Jr. Chris then took the kids to the grocery store to pick out Easter cookies for them to bake and decorate and they also came home with lunch. I put the cookies in the oven after we ate and then went to read on the couch when they came out and decided it was nap time. Chris helped the kids decorate the cookies while I slept for about an hour. I woke to hear the two truck ready to take away Chris’s old car. That didn’t take too long and I’m glad it’s done.

Next we headed off to Lowes for some decorative edging and wood chips. When we got home, Daisy played on the computer and Tabitha drew while Chris and I worked in the front yard. It looks like we need 3 or 4 more bags of wood chips but the area we worked on looks amazing right now. It makes me smile to look over there now (as long as I ignore the practically non-existent grass). Something to cross off my house to-do list. Only 100 more items to go! LOL

By this time it was dinner which was a very easy baked potato and chili dinner, with a quesadilla instead of the baked potato for Miss Daisy. Tabitha and I went to Target for a nice hour of browsing while Chris stayed home and got Daisy into bed. I picked up a plain white t-shirt for Daisy which I going to add a skirt to for a quick summer outfit.

Once home it was straight to bedtime business for Tabitha who brushed hard enough to get another wiggly tooth out. That’s the second this week! I told her to make sure she’s not pulling out the adult teeth because they won’t grow back, lol. We finally got her into bed and I jumped in the shower. Tonight I’m letting my hair air dry to see what happens with the hair. Oh, and I wore it in a ponytail all day today for the first time since I got it cut and there was nary a headache. Apparently losing 4 pounds of hair was the key.

Two quick personal messages because I’m too lazy to email right now.

V- I ended up taking apart all our hard work and putting the puzzle away. I figured if it took you and I that long, it would take me alone a very long time and I needed my table back.

M- My hair is actually the same color as in the first picture. It was just the lighting, I guess. But it’s still reddish brown :)

Lastly, I had a few nice compliments lately on both the dress I sewed and my haircut so thank you all for those.

I’m off to spend time with Chris now, nighty-night!

Sounds like a very nice day! I like family days like that…when things aren’t scheduled too much or rushed.
I like your hair too by the way. I don’t think I posted to that post…..LOL

    Take care
