Bah Humbug

By Tara Zandra | February 24, 2009

Can I use that phrase in February? I need a life pause button right now, but who doesn’t? I know my problems aren’t unique, but I don’t have to solve everyone else’s problems, just my own- and my family’s too, I guess. Nevermind me, I’m just in a funk, I know it will pass as it always does.

The girls and I got the rare treat of lunch with my mother and sister today. We went to Mimi’s Cafe which I don’t think I visit enough. The soup of the day just happens to be vegetarian vegetable on Tuesdays, so Tabitha got the kids’ version of soup and salad and I shared the regular soup and salad entree with Daisy. She determined she likes cauliflower and peas based on the little bits she had in the soup. I may try making peas for the family one night and see if she likes them for real or not. I’ll pass as I firmly know I do not care for them. Maybe I’ll even try cauliflower with cheese sauce though I prefer it raw and I think Chris prefers it not on his plate. We’ll see. I haven’t been real adventurous in cooking for like the past 6 months. I’ve just been sticking to things that don’t require a recipe. I still have quite a few dinners in my head and I’m always willing to just make something up, but it’s nice to branch out as well. I need to designate one day a week as new recipe night. I should probably make it every other week for a better chance of sticking to it. With the kids’ schedules right now we only eat dinner all together 4 nights a week so I have to stick to easy stand-bys for the most part.

Before lunch I had time to do math and spelling with Tabitha plus she did a couple French lessons as well as practice her recital dance. I also had Daisy read to me and was quite pleased at how she did. We have already bought the next set of books for her and while we were going to get the other set of Level 1 books, it turns out there’s a Level 1 Advanced set so we went with that and think it will be the right amount of challenge but not so much that it’s frustrating to her.

After lunch I did 3 French lessons as well while the kids played and then it was time for violin and then gymnastics for Tabitha. Once I got home with her I jumped right into one quick scrapbook layout and completed the first page for our Disney World vacation book. I played Wii Fit for about an hour and then hopped in the shower. I think Chris and I will watch a couple shows and then head to bed.

Hey, tell me about the Wii Fit. Do you feel like it’s really a workout or is it just fun like bowling or tennis? I know a person can’t expect to get into great shape using it but if it would help with endurance/stamina and some aerobic exercise, I may just look into buying one. Have you had it long enough to decide how you feel about it?
