Dusted off the ol’ sewing skills

By Tara Zandra | February 21, 2009

Today was a Girl Scout event in which Tabitha participated in a fashion show dressed in a traditional Chinese outfit. We attempted to simply find one local to purchase but we were unsuccessful. We could have gone to Chinatown but with all the rain we’ve been having and our hectic schedules we opted for me to sew the outfit. This is what led to me being up until 2:00am last night this morning because procrastination is always a good thing! I actually cut everything out last Sunday and then sewed the pants on Monday and deliberately decided to wait until Friday night to sew the top. I think that’s where my plan went wrong. In any case I did finish it and I think she looked adorable and now we have a lovely addition to the dress up closet.

As long as my machine was out I went ahead and sewed the curtains for the play room with the Tinker Bell fabric we picked up last weekend. We’ve had make-shift curtains in there for over a year now so I’m glad to finally have that project over and done with.

Our Disney World photos are printed and on their way and I really wish they had showed up in today’s mail because I’m on a craft roll and would have loved to get started. Instead I’m sure they’ll come in Monday’s mail and I won’t be able to touch them until next weekend- if I’m lucky since I’ll be sorting approximently 1100 boxes of cookies then. On the bright side, only one more week until I can bite into a heavenly Samoa cookie :)

Wow, did you use satin for her outfit? That isn’t easy to work with, you are quite the seamstress Z!
The Tinkerbell curtains are adorable - I need to get material to make some for Gabe’s room, the poor kid has 2 spiderman blankets covering the window now! @@
