They better sleep in

By Tara Zandra | September 10, 2008

Yesterday Daisy fell asleep between 4pm and 5pm. I didn’t consider it that big of a deal because she’s has a mild version of the cold and she didn’t get enough sleep the night before. However, come 9:50 and the child was still awake channeling her older sister by proclaiming she couldn’t sleep. Unlike Tabitha, though, this is highly unusual for Daisy so we attempted to take action. Consider it was almost an hour past Tabitha’s bedtime, I really needed at least one kid asleep. Chris ended up taking Daisy for a drive- that age-old trick. I was able to get Tabitha into bed and I’m pretty sure she was asleep when Chris came home with Daisy a half hour later. It wasn’t exactly how we like our evenings to go and I’m really glad I didn’t pick up a Redbox movie as I had considered earlier in the afternoon.

Several of you left really nice comments about my sewing- thank you for that. It was mentioned I believe 3 times that you like to see pictures of finished projects. I don’t actually have any for what I was working on this weekend. My friend is going to Disney World for the first time this year. She has always left wonderful comments about my sewing, especially the Disney stuff. Therefore, I offered to sew her daughter a Disney outfit if she wanted to wear one in Disney World. I ended up doing a second one because she happened to like something that is so simple to do that it was easy enough for me to do two outfits. Anyway, no model here means no pictures. I don’t really like to take pics of clothes without people in them. I did designs I’ve done before so you all have seen pictures of the styles anyway.

I didn’t do anything on Daisy’s candy corn dress or Tabi’s bat outfit this past weekend since Chris and I had that day together on Sunday. I did go to the fabric store last night and pick up black knit for Lindsay’s Halloween top. So far I don’t consider it that hard to work with so I’m not sure where that idea came from. It’s so neat to see this little shirt I’ve sewn. It’s looks like a real shirt since it’s made out of t-shirt material. It’s a different feeling to me than when I sew boutique-y clothes out of cottons. I’m pretty sure the shirt will be done today but I won’t share a pic until I get the bats on the skirt because really, it’s just a plain black t-shirt. I think Tabitha is going to make Lindsay a witch’s hat and then use a dowel and dried corn husks for a broom and Lindsay will be a type of witch.

Speaking more on doll clothes, Tabitha told me last night she wanted to get Lindsay a new holiday dress. I had to tell her that isn’t going to happen this year. The fall is so full of extra expenses due to Christmas shopping and fall/halloween activities that $35 + shipping for a doll dress just isn’t what I’m going to do. But I thought about it and remembered that Simplicity patterns are on sale this week so I set Tabitha up at their website last night so she could go through the doll clothing patterns to pick out a holiday dress for me to sew Lindsay. That idea went over big, she was very excited. She chose four so I need to go through her choices myself in case any of them are too much for me to accomplish. But I’ll probably be able to get one done for $10 and I get to have fun doing it. I rarely sew to save money because I buy expensive fabric and accessories so this is a good thing too :)

Today we’re just hanging out at home. We were supposed to go to Disneyland, but I’m giving Daisy another day to fully recover as we have more activities in the next two days. Today should be the day we finally make our octopuses for the mural- I’ve been saying that for a week it’s has to be true eventually, right? :)

I’ll definitely have my model pose for some shots to send you. :-) I ordered her Disney Crocs too so hopefully those will arrive soon.
