the rest of the week

By Tara Zandra | August 10, 2008

Tabitha thoroughly enjoyed her day camp which just about makes all the hellish traffic worth it. Seriously, it took us 2 hours to get home Friday- I’d like to point out we do not live 120 miles away. So her class was called Expedition Archaeology and since Tabitha has expressed a desire to go into archaeology as a career path, I thought it would be the perfect class for her. She found out just how much work is involved in being an archaeologist but said it only fueled her interest as opposed to scaring her away. On the very first day they made their own pieces for Senet which is an ancient Egyptian game so she didn’t get to leave Egypt behind afterall, lol.

Daisy and I kept busy. Monday we went to the Grove, Tuesday we went to the Beverly Center, Wednesday we went into the museum where Tabitha’s class was held. Daisy loved it, of course, since she has never met a museum she didn’t like. We spent the full two hours looking at everything and didn’t even have time for the gift shop. Thursday we again stayed but wandered around the outside of the museum and then went back inside for just the gift shop- which was slightly disappointing. And lastly, on Friday Daisy and I went back to the Beverly Center but we simply enjoyed the air conditioning and sat together on chairs.

Unfortunately, we missed gymnastics on both Tuesday and Thursday. We simply could not get there in time with all the traffic. At least Tabitha could console herself with the fact that she got to go to day camp all week, but Daisy didn’t have anything like that.

Yesterday I went to a baby shower for my cousin. I went with my mom and sister so I got a lot of visiting in. At the baby shower was also a long-time friend of my cousin’s that I used to work with at Disneyland so it was wonderful to see her though we didn’t get to talk more than a few minutes. And of course two of my aunts were there so it really was a lovely time.

That brings us to today which started off with a trip to Krispy Kreme. Then we stopped at Lowe’s for small cans of paint so I could do the accents on the girls’ room. I got to work on that as soon as we got home and Tabitha worked on her fair entries. Neither child has made nearly enough progress in their entries considering they have to be turned in next Saturday. So I guess I know what we’ll be focusing on during the day this week! Tomorrow we’ll need to go to Michaels for more supplies.

Also yesterday and today we’ve had the Olympics on in the background and are looking forward to watching some Women’s Gymnastics in an hour.

I’ll end with a picture of my “artistic” skills. Today I painted the tree and three clouds though only one cloud is visible in the picture. It’s hard for me to get good pics of this wall because of the giant bed preventing me from standing back very far.
