all disney all day

By Tara Zandra | June 11, 2006

We hit Disneyland today for what was supposed to be a 4 hour trip. We got up super early and were dead tired owing to the fact that Chris and I didn’t go to bed until 1:30am. The kids, of course, went to be much earlier and slept later. Speaking of which, why is it when I’m exhausted and need sleep they are both up way too early but on a day when we need them to wake up they suddenly want to sleep in? Why are children out to get their parents and capture their sanity?

What was I talking about again? Oh, right.

Anyway, the day was going so well that we stayed and didn’t get out of there until 3:00pm which was roughly 3 hours past when we had planned to leave. Of course we’re paying for it now, at least I am. My back has been bothering me for a couple days and today just really did me in. The lack of sleep isn’t helping and basically I’m dead tired. We must remember to leave wishing we were staying instead of leaving and wishing we had left hours earlier. We did get in some rides which hasn’t happened in eons due to crowds and we saw plenty of characters. We even ran into some friends that we haven’t seen in forever. So long in fact that this was the first time we met their 10 month old. Cute :) I wish that we lived closer together as our little ones are close in age and for now the mom is staying home. It would be nice to get together.

Since being home we’ve watched tv and ate a very simple rice, beans and tortillas dinner. I don’t cook much on the weekends because we’re usually out all day and I’m too tired. Daisy is already in bed after practically begging to be put there about 45 minutes ago. Tabitha will go in another 45 minutes and them I’m guessing Chris and I will play our game for a tiny bit and then go to bed ourselves.

Oh, I wanted to mention last night we finally watched the John Cusack movie High Fidelity, only 6 years after it’s release! In any case, loved it! Absolutely loved it. Haven’t seen a movie that I enjoyed that much in a very long time. So glad we decided to watch last night.

I’ve been perusing the Crocs website [hiding in shame]. I hate the way these shoes look but we really need something for our all day walking excursions of which there are plenty. These come as highly recommended as Birkenstocks, but half the price and not leather. I hear about them all the time as how wonderful they are for all day walking. I just wish they didn’t look like they did. Oh well, I guess it’s time to jump on that trend bandwagon. At least Tabi will have fun picking out her color :)

The crocs really are ugly but oh so comfy and light. My daughter and I have matching ones :) They are perfect for all-day wear. I have seen a lot of nurses wearing them for that reason!

I got a pair last summer and loved them b/c they are so comfortable. 3 of my girls got a pair this spring and they are especially great for the 2 and 5-year old as they can throw them on quickly if we’re in a hurry. I did make the mistake of getting a cheaper pair for my 2-year old and the strap broke. Other than that they are great. But I agree, ugly, no matter what color you pick out! They seem to look cuter on kids, though :)

I saw these crocs for the first time a month ago and my reaction was much like yours. I totally agree with you about how hideous they are!
I can’t believe they are really IN right now!

I was so shocked that you haven’t watched High Fedelity since its release 6 years ago! Gee, you must be really busy!

    Take care!

I thought they were so ugly. But I hear all the time about how comfy they are… I’d like to try them on in person (my feet have issues) before I buy them, though… otherwise I’d be in the same boat- on their site, picking mine out. WHEN I do get them, I’ll probably get a pair pf the flipflop looking ones, and a neutral pair that I can try to pull of for work.

I’ll have to look into a pair of those for Gillian — we usually get about five steps from the car before she starts complaining that her feet hurt!

here in the sticks I’ve never even *heard* of crocs until right now! lol
I do, however, practically live in birkenstocks. I’ve bought most of mine from birkenstockcentral.com on the “bargains” page of their site. ; )
I’m all about comfort for the feet & now I’m intrigued by these crocs…I particularly like the “nile” style of sandal.
    & FTR Z, I’ve not seen “High Fidelity” either. : /
