The rest

By Tara Zandra | June 2, 2006

It turns out I was wrong, it wasn’t just an okay birthday because I was making the plans, it’s because Chris wasn’t here. The moment her walked in the door, my mood improved ten-fold. We didn’t do anything special or even out of the ordinary, it was just better because he was here. Therefore, the second half of my birthday was indeed as fabulous as I could have hoped.

Yesterday was just a day, but a hot one. I ran the AC which I’d rather not do everyday. I’ve mentioned the wonderful cross-breeze in this house but if all the outside air is 87+ degrees, it doesn’t feel so good coming through. We had a playdate in the afternoon and the girls were actually crazy enough to go outside. My friend and I stayed inside and built a marble maze, supposedly for Daisy but we had way too much fun just building it.

While Tabitha was in hula last night, Chris, Daisy and I ran to Staples and Henry’s. I needed new bookkeeping paper for my account info (I don’t use a checkbook, I just keep the paper in a 3 ring binder) and they only had 2 packs. Considering my last pack lasted two years I won’t be buying more paper for a long time. I also picked up a composition book for Tabitha for her creative writing. It’s different and I’m not sure she’ll like it but I didn’t want to order one like she already has and a) have to wait for it to get here, and b) pay shipping on a $2.00 item. When we got home we found out that Henry’s neglected to give us one bag containing my asparagus and honey granola.

Chris and I got the kids off to bed, worked crosswords together while we ate dinner and then watched one old VH1 show that had been on our Tivo forever before heading off to bed. Not sure why, but we were both exhausted and practically falling asleep on the couch at 10:30pm.

I’m definitely the same way, if I spend the day with Jim then it was a good birthday. :)
Our A/C has been on and running for a few weeks now. It will probably stay that way until October. :( I feel jipped out of a spring once again.
