webkinz extravaganza

By Tara Zandra | April 25, 2008

We had a lovely time at Park Day this morning. I got in some really good talking time with the other parents and Tabitha says she had a great time with her friends. Daisy wasn’t really happy to be there, but 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.

During naptime, I started on Tabitha’s piggy skirt and managed to get all 36 trapezoids sewn together. It is a long piece of fabric, roughly 5 times Tabitha’s waist. This evening I was zig-zagging seams to reinforce them and prevent fraying. I actually own a serger which would merge these two steps into one, but I haven’t used it in years and seem to recall the reason I stopped using it was because I jammed it in such a way that it would not work. Since that’s my memory, I don’t really feel like spending a huge amount of time digging it out of the garage, cleaning it off, reading up on how to use it and then seeing if it really works. One of these I need to do that though.

So today kicks off Webkinz Extravaganz Weekend. Every partcipating retailer is giving away a free Webkinz to the first 500 people to purchase $10 worth of merchandise in their store. We went to a local candy store that sells Webkinz and made our purchases. I bought a Lil’ Kinz Mouse for myself because it is so darn cute :) Tabitha chose a Webkinz outfit and Daisy’s white chocolate covered pretzle with sprinkles put us over the $20 so we could get two free Webkinz. I let each kid choose one, Daisy chose a lion (named Bailey after the Kings mascot) and Tabitha chose a striped cat she named Tigerella. Oh, I named my mouse Meeska Mooska in honor of the Mickey Mouse Club. The store took one of the virtual Webkinz games and turned it into a live game. Not too exciting as it’s just guess how many jellybeans are in the jar. But we’ll go back this weekend for gem hunting.

And that’s it really. Not too much going on this weekend so I’m hoping to get a lot done on Tabitha’s outfit. Or I may sit at the computer all weekend with Chris playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. Whichever :)
