lost is back (so I type)

By Tara Zandra | April 24, 2008

Darn that surround sound, no matter how loud my headphones are turned up I can still hear bits of Lost coming from the living room. There’s always explosions and gunfire that breaks through my music. I’m listening to my mellow playlist which just can’t compete.

Anyway, the beeping was here very briefly this morning and then gone. Also, no construction sounds at all from next door so it was nice when we were at home. Daisy had gymnastics this morning and was really into it. She hasn’t been this enthusiastic since December so it was a welcome change. When we talk over class in the car on our way to pick up Tabitha from book club, Daisy always tells me she’s a good listener but none of the other kids are. I can’t help but laugh :)

While Daisy napped played in her bed, Tabitha sat with me at my craft table. I was working on another Chicago scrapbook page and we were chatting about scrapbooking. She really wants to try her hand at it but laments her lack of pictures (I’m not so good about ordering pics). I told her to take her camera to the next Park Day and I’ll put those pictures in with my next order which should be in the next week and then she can scrapbook those pictures. Such a simple thing, but it made her very happy.

After Daisy was up the girls did lessons together at the little table again. When Daisy finished the pile of papers she demands I give her, I sat her down for a reading lesson. She read two Bob books to me and was thrilled they were ones she hadn’t read before. She’s not retaining the word “the” but I noticed she did not have to sound out the word “sat” which figures prominently in the first two books. Nice to see that little progression.

Tabitha had Brownies this evening so Daisy and I went to the fabric store so I could purchase a couple generic fabrics for Tabitha’s pig outfit. It’s right next door to a Petsmart so I took Daisy in there to walk around. She loves looking at all the animals, of course, but the fish really captured her attention. She kept exclaiming at their cuteness or silliness of thinness or whatever and running from tank to tank to squat down and examine them.
