dueling hobbies

By Tara Zandra | April 3, 2008

I had a brainstorm with a scrapbook layout I was stuck on and found exactly what I needed at a scrapbook store today. I also found embellishments for the other layout I was working on and it looks so much better now. Tabitha was at a movie party and Daisy was napping so I had a good time working on my scrapbook layout without interruptions. I felt very in the groove and was enjoying myself. Then, this evening while Daisy was drinking milk on my lap, I was perusing boutique clothes on ebay. I was majorly inspired for an outfit for Tabitha. But I can only work on one hobby at a time because I only have one craft table. Either I can have a layout out while it’s being worked on, or I can have my sewing machine out while I’m working on outfits. I don’t have room for both. The only other alternative is my dining room table which would mean eating at Little Mermaid folding tables while sitting in a toddler chair. That arrangement would only fit one person in this house.

Here’s Daisy’s photos we had done last weekend. Again, they are the dreaded picture of a picture so please don’t mind the quality too much.

Today was everybody’s favorite dinner- tomato soup. It cooks in the crockpot all day and smells so good in the afternoon. So simple to make and yet so satisfying to the tastebuds. I also made black bean tacos. I fried whole black beans with chopped onion, garlic and cilantro and added the juice of one lime and a bit of kosher salt. Man were they good. We put them in corn tortillas and topped with cheese. Ideally it should have been Monterey Jack cheese, but I didn’t have any on hand so it was just regular cheddar. The taco filling is definitely something I’ll make again.

Maybe sometime you could post your recipe for tomoato soup? Sounds delicious and anything I can make in my crockpot is a bonus feature!!
