Around the house

This is today’s activity table. This is usually only out when we have a train track set up. Frankly, there seems to always been a train track set up so I figured I might as well just leave it out. Daisy likes to play with toys that are on tables, she doesn’t care for the floor too much. This corner of the living room is for toys and there is usually a nice square floorspace to play on. But Daisy never plays in that area. So we’re not losing any space by having the tables out and both Tabitha and Daisy enjoyed seeing what was there this morning. In the back is our felt board and bin of felt shapes. I wish we had a tabletop easel to set the board. In the front right is Daisy’s Snap ‘n Style toys and Playhouse Disney puzzles are on the left.

Tabitha set Lindsay up to do lessons with her and Daisy. I managed to get a reading lesson in with Daisy after she declared done with a tracing workbook. I altered my approach and she was more receptive and had fun. Let’s hope she remembers that tomorrow when I try again.

Like many houses, we have a perpetually messy area and this is one of two. When Chris comes home, his wallet, keys, cell, ipod and pocket-crap are also added to the mix. This is where we charge all our electronics and they never seem to get put away. I’ve been perusing the basket aisle at Target trying to come up with something to neaten the area and will be asthetically pleasing at the same time, but haven’t had that brainstorm yet.

This is the entrance to the girls’ room. We just got it last weekend and put it up while the girls were with my in-laws. They were quite surprised when they came home and now call their room their Secret Garden. We can also draw the sides back which is done at night in case anyone needs to get out in the dark. Tabitha has two names signs on the door and we have none for Daisy. I’m looking into a custom plaque that would say Tabitha and Daisy’s Secret Garden. I love how much those two appreciate the little touches we try and add to their room. I’d really like to get a dutch door for the room, but I’ve been saying that for 8 years, so we’ll see :)

Thank you for sharing! We have a spot on our counter where Dave drops his ’stuff’ every day. I finally got him a smallish ceramic pot to drop it all in. He puts his change there, his phone, checkbook, glasses, whatever is in his pockets….It worked out quite well really. It’s become our little piggy bank too since he drops his change in there all of the time. I also put a long, narrow basket behind it to catch all the papers that seem to accumulate there too.
I love the curtain on the girls’ door. It’s beautiful! And WOW! The toys!!!! We just purged a massive amount of toys the kids don’t use anymore. They have a very small amount now- that they never use! We don’t have any kind of storage for them tough. :o ( I have dreams of what I’d turn their rooms into if I had lots of moolah. But it’s never happened yet. LOL

We’ve got that same electronics-charging corner in our kitchen, and it’s a wreck all the time too. Life in the 21st century!
