signed, sealed, addressed and awaiting stamps

By Tara Zandra | December 15, 2007

I finished my Christmas cards last night and will be popping them into the mail today. I’d been putting off even thinking of cards (I did that last year too for some reason).

Yesterday Chris had his last vacation day of the year and we went to Disneyland. I took the girls in their Christmas dresses determined to get good photos of them (not easy when a certain someone refuses to look at the camera and smile at the same time. And when she does, her eyes are red *sigh*). Luck was with us and we definitely got some good ones.

I also wanted to buy a couple of new gingerbread ornaments for my gingerbread tree. While I was doing that I found the perfect cards. I just love them and they even have a slot for the photo. One problem, the picture has to go horizontal and every picture I had taken of the girls that morning and the one family picture, were vertical. I bought them anyway and we took new pictures of the girls. So we went home, chose our favorite, sent them to Ritz photo via the internet and then picked up 50 copies an hour later. Then we came home at some point and I addressed and signed every single one of them and wrote notes in a few for new babies and wedding congrats and stuff. My hand cramped so bad but they are done! This morning the kids and I will go to the post office and then shoe shopping for me.

Oh, it got to be very late by the time I was finishing them, so I think my mind played a few tricks. I’m pretty sure on the back of at least one photo I wrote Chris’s name instead of Daisy. And one aunt and uncle are getting a card that says “Tara, Chris, 2 girls (Tabitha and Daisy)” because I’m an idiot who originally started to sign “Tara, Chris, Zandra” and turned the Z into a 2 and went with it. Having two names makes signing cards real fun. And I had exactly the right amount of cards, no extras so mistakes had to be dealt with. I have several aunts and uncles and most of them read this so now they can all guess who gets the funny card.

Here’s one of the vertical pictures that I loved. The dresses are the ones I sewed and they will be worn Christmas Day. After that, I will remove the Santa hat and applique a Minnie Mouse bow and they’ll be traveling dresses for Disney World. Their beanies are crochet and I bought them on ebay.

I got the “funny” card. I laughed when I saw it since I had just read about it that morning and received the card that afternoon.

Thank you for the darling picture.
