Sunday evening was to be Tabitha’s first performance of “Ugh-a-Wug” with her musical theatre class. She talked of little else the preceeding week to the point where Friday I finally had to tell her not to mention it again until the day of the performance. We decided, last minute, that I was to modify a shirt and sew her a pair of pants to make her Peter Pan. We went out Sunday morning to buy the material and I actually made her a costume in about 3 hours. That is something I never could have pulled out of my arse a year ago.

She was happy, she was excited, she was ready to go. And it was all for naught. They were performing at a Concert in the Park. The studio has performed there every year for quite a few years and this year the park changed the sound system and it no longer accepted CD-Rs. Well, that’s all there is for Tabitha’s number as the song is edited, not full length. So her class didn’t get to perform. We had family there and everything. When we told her she definitely would not sing, she broke down crying and declared all her happy thoughts of the day were wasted.

And that is how this post ends, because there is no silver lining, so bright spot, nothing. It totally sucked.

That does totally suck. Did no one notify the theatre class of the change in sound systems? All the participants should each write a letter voicing their disappointments to the park adminstrators. I can only imagine how sad Tabitha was. My son is just broken when something gets built up but isn’t able to come to fruition for whatever reason.

Tell her she makes a perfect Peter Pan.

I am so sorry to hear that. That is just an awful thing to do to a child. Maybe you can have her put her song on for a group of her friends and family, I know, I know not the same but maybe atleast something.

p.s. Tell her she looked fantastic in her Peter Pan costume and kudos to you for knocking it out in record time!! :)

I am sorry sorry that this happend to Tabitha. Getting ready for a performance is a incredible endeavor and to have it end in that way is a horrible let down. Will they try to make it up to them with another performance.? Any chance you could have her perform for you and video it. I would love to see it.
