11 years

By Tara Zandra | August 5, 2007

Last week (July 27) was our 11th anniversary :) It was a Friday so Chris took the day off work so we could spend the whole day together. We had the kids with us all day, but in the evening, my mom came over to spend the night with the girls and Chris and I were on our own! First we went to Disneyland’s Paradise Pier Hotel to check-in. This was the only Disneyland Resort hotel we hadn’t stayed in. The room was very nice with a great beach/boardwalk/sun theme going on. We got a king bed room which is always nice since we don’t have one at home. We didn’t have too much time before we needed to get ready for dinner.

I had made us reservations at the Anaheim White House. We found out they offer a free limo if you’re staying at a hotel in the area so we figured “why not?” Gad was that thing cheeee-sy! It had little mirrors lining the bar area and it was all white and just, I don’t know, I just hope it was never used in a porn movie. In any case, the restaurant itself was wonderful with a nice history. The food was fabulous. We each started with Insalata Caprese, then Chris had the Vegetarian Pasta while I had Ravioli with a Porcini musroom sauce. Delish! Since it was a special occasion, we ordered a chocolate souffle. Divine does not do it justice. It was unbelievable, and I’m not usually a chocolate person. The waiter brought us sparkling cider so we could toast our anniversary (There was mention of they knowing we don’t drink, so we can assume that had we ordered wine with dinner they would have brought us champagne. I don’t care for cider or champagne, so it doesn’t matter either way for me). It was really a wonderful meal and perfect for an anniversary dinner.

After we took the porn-mobile limo back to the hotel, we honestly changed into our shorts and went into Disneyland, lol. We rode a few rides, then it was closing time so we took the monorail to get nearer to the hotel.

Next morning we got up at 5:45 and started getting ready for the day. We had planned to enjoy a nice breakfast via room service, but they were running too far behind and we had to cancel our order. See, we had to be at California Adventure at 7:00am for our Segway tour! Oh my, it was so much fun! We had to learn safety things first, but then we were off! Our group was small, just us and a family of 4, besides our two guides. We got to go all over the park and the guides gave us some trivia about areas we stopped in. We got a little bit of free time, though we had to stay in a specific area. Overall it was so fun and I’d love to do another one, maybe down in Long Beach.

After the tour, we debated our options as it was really kind of hot by then and we didn’t feel so much like going to the fair like we originally planned. First we had to pack and check out of our hotel, then we decided to go watch “The Simpsons.” I laughed quite a bit and it was rather enjoyable. After the movie we wanted lunch and settled on the ESPN Zone. We had never eaten there before and I don’t know that we will again. It wasn’t bad, by any means. It was freezing and loud, but the food was really good, but perhaps a bit too plentiful and really I think it’s one of those places that now we’ve done it, it doesn’t need doing again. We left there rather stuffed.

At this point we didn’t really know what to do. We weren’t expected back until 5ish and it was only 1:00pm. In the end we did a couple practical things- we went to the barber for Chris and got my car washed. Whoopee! LOL But that was fine because it was just us being together alone which was kind of the point. We got back home and profusely thanked my mother for staying the night.

It was a wonderful anniversary!
