You know, I don’t care about my age, but when 4 different people make the “You must be celebrating your 21st birthday” joke, well that makes me feel old because the implication is that I’m sooo far from 21.

Aside from that, I had a great birthday celebration. Thanks to everyone who commented, sent cards, took me to dinner, called, sent an e-card, gave me a shout-out in your blog, or emailed me birthday wishes. All were appreciated.

The actual day was Thursday, though I already had 2 dinners out with family to celebrate before then. My first order of business on my birthday was ordering my new camera (now $20 less, doh!). The first week of May I lost my camera at Disneyland and it was never to be found. So I shopped for a new one and fell in love with the new Sony (in bright red, no less). Knowing my birthday was coming up, I decided to wait to purchase it and I asked my mom and my in-laws for a gift card to Best Buy and they were both generous in their gift. Chris made up the difference and bought me a 1 gig memory stick as well. Since I want the red one I had to order online as it’s not carried in the stores but it should be here in two more days and then I can play with my new toy!

We went to Disneyland, of course, and had a great time. We went on a couple rides and shopped everywhere. Tabitha bought me a Mickey Mouse birthstone ring and Chris bought me a Disneyland sweatshirt I’ve really been wanting but was never going to buy myself. I also picked up a few small items for me that I’ve had my eye on for a long time. As a treat we went to the candy store in California Adventure and I had a chocolate covered Mickey pretzle. We ended the day with dinner at Red Robin.

Chris not only took Thursday off work, but also Friday off so it was nice to have him home and continued the celebrating. During the day we went to the Disney Outlet as I’ve been wanting to go for awhile. I specifically was hoping to find old 50th celebration scrapbooking stuff and do you know they actually had some of it? It wasn’t marked down enough to consider it a deal by any means, but it’s not like I can get it anywhere else now. After the outlet, we had a regular day: lunch, violin and then musical theatre for Tabitha. But once she was out of class, Chris and I took the kids to my in-laws’ because the other part of my gift from them was they took the kids overnight. Yay!

Once we threw the kids out the window of the car lovingly said our good-byes to the kids, we were off to our favorite vegetarian restaurant. It was only our second time there and it was as good as the first time. It was impossible to choose and we ordered a bit too much food so we ended up bringing some home. Next we were off to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. Loved it! They had so many touches from the ride, just like the first movie did. I smiled from the moment it started and did not stop until the final, final end. Just enjoyed everything about it and still think about it.

Saturday we went shopping at Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. We hit our favorite “cool stores” and had lunch. There was a cupcake shop in the food court of the adjoing mall called Le Cupcake so we had to stop there. I had a chocolate with cream cheese/coconut frosting and Chris had red velvet with cream cheese frosting. My were they heavenly!

We got home eventually and relaxed for awhile before going to pick up the kids. I had a grea time, but it was definitely good to see them. We grabbed Chipotle for dinner and then collapsed at home and let the kids run loose in the backyard before bed.

By Sunday the celebrating was over, we simply went to Krispy Kreme, Target, Whole Foods, and Albertsons for regular errands. Again, the kids played in the backyard between dinner and bedtime.

All in all, I had a wonderful birthday!

Glad you had a great birthday celebration. The cupcake place sounds yummy. I thoroughly enjoyed Pirates of the Caribbean, World’s End, went with my husband and all 3 daughters. I remember the chocolate covered Mickey pretzel I had at California Adventure last November. Mmmmmgood.
Aunt Pati is here visiting this week, I’ll have to tell her about your birthday adventures or tell her to read them, since you write such great tales.

Congrats on the new camera! New toys are so much fun! I just got a new camera a couple weeks ago. It’s a Fuji Finepix s6000fd. I looooove it!!

Reading about what you guys do over there makes me want to come to California sooo bad!! :o ) Your cupcakes sounded divine! I want one!

And you are not old. Cause I’m only 1 year behind you and if you are old, then I am old. And I don’t want to be old just yet. LOL
