Laughter as medicine

By Tara Zandra | March 12, 2007

Nothing, and I mean nothing, can pull me out of being down like watching clips of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” on YouTube. I’m sitting here with my headphones laughing my patoot off while my family thinks I’ve gone insane. We’re waiting for Daisy to conk out so Tabs can go to bed. And then it’s time for Robin Hood. It’s on BBC America and the first episode aired last week. Chris and I loved it though it seems to have mixed reviews. The only thing I didn’t like was the overly done makeup on the women. Just a bit jarring. Other than that, really enjoyable.

Saturday’s tennis clinic wasn’t quite what we expected, nor the cost through this program. Unless I’m gunning for my kid to be a superstar, I’m not paying what they’re asking. And I’m not exactly cheap when it comes to my kids’ classes but this place was way over the top. So we’re looking at her taking a class at the local community college. Unfortunately it started two weeks ago but rather than try to register her late we’re going to just wait until summer session as we’re kind of enjoying having nothing to do on Saturdays right now.

Sunday we got up early and headed to Disneyland. Because of the time change it really seemed early but it’s so worth it to have the place mainly empty for two hours. We ride all we want in that time and then we can do all the non-ride stuff including sitting and soaking up the magic. This past Sunday we had to leave at 11:30 though because it was Wiggle time! It was a great show, as always, and it was nice to see the new Wiggle- Sam. Daisy was in a bit of a funk and didn’t seem to enjoy it quite as much as last year, but the rest of us had a great time. And now they’re gone for another year. Not sure if Tabitha will join us next year, though she did have a great time year. There was a family behind us with a little boy roughly Daisy’s age and his older sister was probably 12 and she was singing along and having a great time. She made me smile though I think I embarassed her slightly when I turned around at the exact moment she kind of guffawed complete with accidental snort, lol.

Today was Monday and we never have plans on Mondays. I use this time to take care of all the laundry and general housework stuff. Plus Tabitha and I do lessons and we can run errands in the afternoon if needed. Well, if Daisy wakes at a decent time that is. Today’s nap ran 3 hours from the time she fell asleep which was an hour after I put her down so that took up most of the day.

The time change though was exactly what I’ve been waiting for to get back into walking. Only this time I took the family with me. Tabitha was on her scooter and Chris was pushing Daisy and was going to skip the cul-de-sacs so he’d catch up with Tabs and I, but instead he decided to keep up with me and got in a workout himself. This is an every other night thing as I’ll alternate walking with Pilates. I’ve already been doing Pilates for a couple months, but not with enough consistency, I fear. Anyway, it was such a pleasant way to spend an evening going around the neighborhood with the family. It was hot enough today that I had to cave by late afternoon and turn on the A/C so the evening walk was rather warm. But again, it was so nice to get back into my walking :)

You. turned. on. the. AIR CONDITIONER?!

    I’m so envious.

Have you seen the WLIIA with Richard Simmons? I loved that he was in full-flame and not afraid to show it.
