Thursday catch-up

By Tara Zandra | January 11, 2007

I am trying to post on my site, but for whatever reason it’s not working too well right now. I even had to take the picture down on the right because I changed the caption to match new pictures and then the new pictures refused to upload so it was wonky. I’ll try again later.

Tuesday was back to Kindermusik for Daisy and I. She was excited to go, but once we were in class, she wasn’t too into it. I’m thinking it had just been too long of a break and she got overwhelmed. Or maybe she just didn’t feel like it- you never know with that kid :) After class, the girls and I ate our lunch in the car and headed to Disneyland! It was 80º and clear, just perfect. No crowds either which is why we went. We had a pretty good time for the four hours we were there. Traffic wasn’t too bad on the way home. Chris was already home when we got here because he had been sick and ending up coming home from work early. Probably a good thing we weren’t there, that way he got some rest alone.

Tabitha was very recently promoted to the next level in hula and Tuesday night was her first class. It’s a half hour longer and a bit more serious so she worked very hard. She’s the youngest in the class, but not the least experienced as she’s been in hula over 2 years now. But age is a factor not to mention my lack of natural grace being passed on to her. I was so proud watching her work hard and even when her arms were killing her she didn’t lower them.

Yesterday, hula really took its toll. Her body was tired but she cannot skip violin practice because she has her first recital this month. Then we did lessons and she never even finished math, which we do first, because she said she just couldn’t hold the pencil any more. So I thought and thought on it and decided she is taking this month off of baton. She was supposed to go back yesterday after the holiday break, but her body simply needed some kind of rest. It’s too bad baton is the day after hula but there’s not much I can do about that. Anyway, we talked about it and she knows that I’m really just thinking about her and that I made my decision based on what I feel is best for her body. She’s not happy about it, but she’s knows it’s because I love her so she’s not mad at me or anything. Hopefully by next month her muscles will be used to the extra workout and she won’t hurt as much.

Tabitha is a trooper!! She would have been miserable going to baton in her worn out condition. I say you made the best decision. I think it’s cool that she’s doing hula. It looks very complicated. And violin! Whew! She goes for the tough-to-master arts.

I’m jealous of the 4 hour day at Disney. My kids would love that!! Also jealous of the 80 degrees. LOL It’s not bad here, mid to high 60’s today. But still, I miss the warm weather. Just a couple more months and spring will be here. :D
