routine

By Tara Zandra | January 8, 2007

Today was a rather pleasant day in that it was a return to the usual routine. Tabitha and I did lessons after a rather lengthy time off, though they are abbreviated since I’m waiting for a shipment to come in. I’ve ordered a writing program (as in, working on stories and such) and also art. The writing program incorporates grammar and since I’m not really happy with our current grammar program I’ve just stopped using it. Even with 3 weeks off, Tabitha’s math skills hadn’t been lost, which is a good thing. She only forgot one definition and it was only introduced in the last lesson we did before break.

Daisy very much wanted to do her own lessons but I ran out of time before her nap and after she awoke we had a few errands to run. We finally did lessons after dinner. Did I mention she’ll do lessons with me now? I can’t remember. I know I’ve mentioned that Daisy doesn’t like to play with me and therefore we weren’t doing any lessons (because at this age, the word “lessons” is used simply to get my child used to the idea, but really, it’s all play). Well, recently I started her on Brighter Visions which Tabitha always loved and when the first shipment came, I asked her if she wanted to do lessons. She was all over the idea of Daisy’s lessons and asks to do them now :) So she won’t play with me, but she’ll do lessons with me, lol.

Oh, I was asked in a comment if I plan on bunk beds for the girls. Yes I do, but I’m not sure when. I don’t like the idea of Tabitha up so high, plus the bed would be a pain to change the linens. Daisy is too small for a twin bed right now so that’s why we’re sticking with Tabitha’s loft and Daisy’s crib (though I wish it were a toddler bed). We toyed with the idea of a high loft for Tabi and putting Daisy’s crib underneath, but then we’re back to Tabitha being up high. So we’re making due and neither seems to bother the other in their sleep though you would think they would. They both talk something fierce. I mean, full on, complete sentences from both of them to the point where Chris or I have gone in there to see what they wanted and they were both asleep. The other night I heard one of them say “Daddy, could you come here please?” so I sent Chris in. Both were motionless and I have no idea which one of them was doing the talking. I think they converse in their sleep with eachother, lol.

I have a Wii injury. I played bowling, golf, tennis and home run derby today during nap time and I have a strained muscle on my right arm. Chris calls it “Wii-bow.”

I know what you mean about being up high — I looked at loft beds for Gillian, but they were either so low that they defeated the purpose of having a loft, or so high that she would have been inches from the ceiling. it’s too bad, because I think lofts are really neat, especially the ones with a built-in desk underneath.

Since you don’t like the idea of Tabitha being so high, how about a side rail for Tabitha if you’re worried about her falling from the high loft?

Maybe your idea of high loft could work for you guys right now.

    My two cents.
