Saturday morning

By Tara Zandra | January 6, 2007

Chris has gotten up with Daisy on Saturday for the last month or so. Now it’s my turn so here I sit like every other morning. But our satellite is out due to all the wind yesterday so Daisy is just watching some DVDs as opposed to Playhouse Disney. She’s a TV junkie, unfortunately. But it makes her so darn happy and she is *the* cutest thing in the world singing along to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, patting with the Little Einsteins and dancing with JoJo. I can’t not let her watch :)

Last night I taped the edges of our half wall that divides the entryway and living room and I plan to prime it sometime today. I don’t have the color paint yet though, we’ll see if we go get it today. It’s going to be a light gray, as will the rest of the living room. But I’m not looking at it as “I need to paint the whole living room.” I’m breaking it down into chunks so first, I just need to do one side of the half wall and the two columns. Easy! Next I’ll probably do the other side of the half wall, but Chris needs to remove the Earthquake safety straps from Tabitha’s bookcase so I can move it and then I need to take panelling down. Not sure what wall will be after that as the remaining three each have their own complication. But since I’m still in the honeymoon phase with the purple entryway, I have to use the enthusiasm instead of letting it lanquish as is so often the case. Plus I need the rest of the house to flow with the current purpleness so it doesn’t stick out in a bad way.

I don’t think I mentioned that we’ve moved Daisy out of our room and in with Tabitha. I got a bee in my bonnet one day and just did it all with some help from Tabitha. Daisy had no problem with it at all, Tabitha is thrilled (though less so at 6:15am when Daisy awakes) and I’m okay with it. We got Tabitha out of our room at only 10 months and I missed her a bit. But Daisy is almost 2 and it felt like time. I originally converted her crib to a toddler bed and we bought a side rail. But the side rail is way too big and apparently none of them come to fit a toddler bed. So it’s back to a crib and that’s not what I wanted. I really don’t feel like shelling out a hundred dollars on a toddler bed with built in rails, but I may not have a choice. With Tabitha she slept on a little folding sofa in her closet because we painted it and made it like night in there. It was cute. But that’s not an option for Daisy because her dresser is in the closet and also we created a dress-up nook where the sofa used to be (for more recent readers, there are no closet doors on the closet, so it is not an enclosed space). I definitely want Daisy in a toddler bed, but she will absolutely fall out. So we really need to figure out what to do.

I think that’s enough of a ramble for a Saturday morning :)

Elaina is 3 and she’s still in a crib. We took the side rail off one night and she had a fit and demanded it be put back on. I think it made her feel safer. Strange child. So she’s gonna be in her crib for a while yet althought I would prefer she be in a read bed.

I hope you can figure something out. :)

I slept in my crib for so long that I actually remember doing it, so I must have been at least 3, if not 4, when I finally moved to a bed. I remember going to pick the bed out at Sears, too, along with the rest of my bedroom furniture.

Are you going to put bunks in the girls’ room when Daisy is a little older? I’m trying to envision how a pair of twin beds would fit in there, but I can’t! I sort of wish we’d bought a twin for Gillian instead of a full — the room she has now is so much smaller than her old one that the extra space would really help.
