A Mom Meme- because I feel like it

By Tara Zandra | November 26, 2006

1. How long have you been a Mom?
Miss Tabitha was born on January 30, 1999

2. How many children call you Mommy/Mom/Mama?
One calls me Mom or Mama and the other calls me Mama or Mommy

3. Girl? Boy? Both?
2 girls

4. Did you know what you were having?
Yep. I had no intention of not finding out and had an ultrasound both times just for that reason.

5. How old were you when you became a Mom?
24 the first time and 30 the second time

6. How long were you in labor?
Tabitha - 5.5 hours (back labor)
Daisy - 2 hours 40 minutes

7. What’s your favorite thing about being a mom?
Watching these wonderous human beings develop their personalities

8. What’s your least favorite thing?
Never being able to finish something I start without being interrupted at least once

9. Do you want more kids?
In a way yes. We did not intend on having only one child, but as Tabitha grew older, we enjoyed the family dynamic and that was just the way we decided to keep it. Enter Miss Daisy who was determined to join our family. I went into that pregnancy knowing it was my last. I watch her go through each stage knowing that is the last time. Knowing it’s your last baby is so hard. I’ll admit to very strong feelings of wanting more to the point where Chris and I have discussed it in depth.

10. Do you plan on having more soon?
But no, we don’t. The kind of lifestyle I like to give my kids requires money. We’d need a bigger house, a bigger car, and frankly, a bigger paycheck. My children are expensive, by my choice, and I wouldn’t want to cut back on any of it. I am fully content with my two and love them to death. My life and our family is complete.

11. Does daddy change diapers?
Of course. Though lately Daisy only wants me to change them and puts up quite the fight for anyone else.

12. How many times have you been peed on?
That is not something I keep track of but I can honestly say not that many times overall

13. Barfed on?
Yeah, it’s happened.

14. Is your child named after anyone?

15. How did you come up with their name(s)?
Tabitha comes from the tv show Bewitched and her middle name of Lindsay is the last name of two people who were important in our life at the time she was born.
Daisy’s first name is after my great-grandmother who I was very close to growing up. Georgette is her middle name after Chris’s grandmother who was a wonderful person and I’m very glad to have known her. We put them together because we liked the way they flowed.

16. When your child gets in trouble, who is the bad guy?
I say I’m more of the heavy, but if I’m not here Chris has no problem with the discipline.

17. And who is the good guy?
We’re both the good guy.

18. What is the longest you have been away from your children?
Two nights in a row for Tabitha and about 8 hours, maybe less for Daisy. But in a couple weeks she’ll have her first night away from me. Should be interesting.

19. Bedtime routine?
Daisy- 8:15 is PJs then sitting on my lap or Chris’s lap with a cup of milk, then bed with her blanket and bunny.
Tabitha- Roughly 8:45, later if Daisy took a long time, she heads off to the restroom, washes her face, then puts on her PJs and hops into bed. Chris goes in and sings “Edelwiess” then it’s my turn and I sing “You Are My Sunshine.”

20. Are your toes painted?
Yes. As a matter of fact they are a rainbow and match Tabitha’s toes

21. Last movie you saw in the theatre?
I think “Pirates of the Carribbean 2″

22. Last time you had a date?
I would call all day at Universal Studios last Sunday a date since it was sans kids.

23. One thing you will not give up just because you’re a mom?
Alone time with Chris

24. One thing you did give up now that you’re a mom?

25. Best mom perk?
Toys! LOL

26. Snack you sneak bites from your child?
I don’t consider it sneaking, we all share the same snacks in this house.

27. When the kid is napping, you are?
Vegging in front of the computer and/or watching The View

28. Where is your child now?
1 is in bed supposedly sleeping and the other is washing her face

29. Favorite place to buy maternity clothes?
I didn’t have a favorite place. I bought most of mine at Motherhood Maternity and Old Navy

30. If I could do it over, I’d do this differently:
Knowing how incredibly quick and easy labor and delivery is for me, I think a homebirth would have been just fine.

31. What is the craziest thing you have said/done/taught since becoming a mom?
I have driven to 8 McDonald’s in one day to complete a set of toys. But frankly, I don’t think that has much to do with being a mom, I’m fairly insane regardless of the children.

Aw! I’m a little sad that you’re not getting a son which I wished for you guys.

But it’s been wonderful to watch both of your girls growing up into great individuals.

By the way, I totally loved how you came up with their names!
