Reflection, part 3

By Tara Zandra | January 1, 2013

September through December

September was simply A-Mazing. I mean, we went to Alaska, for goodness sakes. Only Disney could convince me to willingly be cold. Seriously, I don’t know if I’ve ever experienced such natural beauty. I saw two different glaciers and stood in a temperate rainforest with the people that I love most in this world.

There are no words.

We docked from our cruise in Vancouver, BC. While there, we were very fortunate to get a tour of the Psych set and meet both James Roday and Dule Hill. This was a mini-dream come true for 3 of the AncFam members (the fourth was interested, but not ecstatic like the the rest of us).

We also visited Stanley Park and walked around the city of Vancouver. Then it was a train ride to Seattle and a flight to home and poof! Vacation over. Right back into fall dance schedule. At the end of September Chris also ran his second 5K and then next thing we knew, time for Halloween!

Halloween fun at Disneyland!

I think we went 3 or 4 times and that doesn’t count the couple of Friday nights we spent at Mad T Party. Tabitha also attended a costume dance, Daisy went to a birthday party, Tabitha went camping with Girl Scouts, and we had our trick or treat with our park group. We ended up spending Halloween night at Disneyland for Mickey’s Halloween Treat.

Chris and I also got to see The Black Keys in concert. We were on the floor and they were right there and it was incredible! I definitely need to see them again. Then a week later we saw Weezer. Crowd wasn’t so good, but Weezer gave a good show as always. Somewhere in there Chris took Daisy to see The Imagination Movers and said it actually wasn’t too bad in that they entertained the parents as well.

This month was full of more shows, and not all of them were Mad T Party! Chris and Tabitha went to 2 shows, the first of which was just for Tabitha, the Joe Moses One Man Showses, and the other was a concert by Jonathan Coulton. Chris and I also got to see Mumford and Sons- yay! Sadly, our seats sucked, but the sound was great and very, very, enjoyable.

Daisy and I attended a family gathering/ mini-reunion and of course, Thanksgiving.

The girls went to a movie party for dance competion members and as a family we visited with Santa Bailey- the LA Kings mascot dressed as Santa. We ended the month with Chris’s birthday which did not quite go as planned with rain getting in the way of enjoying the traditional birthday day at Disneyland. But we salvaged the day by going to Farrell’s.

We continued the brithday time into December as the company Christmas party was December 1 this year. We stayed in Long Beach at the Hyatt Regency which was really nice. We went to a beer festival and then the Christmas party that night then the next day we drove to Venice for Chris to get a tattoo. I don’t think I need to mention that it’s King’s related.

December also included another concert for Chris and I, this time it was KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas. Great line-up this year. We went to California Adventure, a brief visit to Disneyland, attended a cookie exchange, Chris and I were lucky enough to go to a special screening of the Psych musical episode (so fun!), dance party for the girls, new camera for me, and then, of course, Christmas, and one more Mad T Party for the year (with my new camera in tow!).

Here’s a comparison of my old camera vs. the new one. It’s a clickable thumbnail so you can see it at a good size. We stand roughly the same distance away every time and it’s always at night so the circumstances are basically the same. Look how beautiful the new picture is!

The year was supposed to end with me getting a new [to me] car, but sadly it has not yet happened. We’re still looking and I know what I want will show up, it just needs to be soon.

So that brings us to now, New Year’s Day. Thanks to every one of you who reads- I know I took a vacation from blogging there for a while, but I think I’m in a good groove now.

As I said, we had a hell of a 2012, I would love if 2013 can follow suit.
