December Photo Project- Day 11

Today’s pic isn’t technically a photograph, it’s a screenshot of our Christmas playlist. I’ve put it in thumbnail so it can be clicked and viewed larger than my blog space allows.

In in you will find classics like Perry Como and Frank Sinatra, and a full choir courtesy of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, as well as very swinging Christmas selections by the Brain Setzer Orchestra. We have some current artists as well like blink-182 and Weezer, but you will not find horrid pop songs like Mariah Carey or whatever the hell the one is about the shoes. We also have every Christmas song by Straight No Chaser, a little Annie Lennox, and songs from The Nutcracker.

I’ve broken down the list into 2 sublists- one is strictly piano music that I use as background to whatever we have going on. The other I’ve labeled “Smooth Christmas” and it’s the more jazz type songs like Harry Connick Jr, whom I do not normally care for, but he works for this particular list.

We actually have a ton of Christmas songs tha we cannot play hardly at all as they were on KROQ’s old Christmas CDs and feature very adult songs. Funny as hell, but well, we must think of the children.

My favorite carols, in order, are Carol of the Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and We Three Kings. I know we’re a heathen family, but we still love and celebrate Christmas songs; we just treat them as myth.

Our taste is pretty similar for holiday music. And something about Harry Connick Jr. bugs me in general but I do like his Christmas songs. But I have more rock on mine, I love all those 80’s rockers singing Christmas songs. And my fave is Twisted Sister Christmas, it’s good, for real! LOL
