voting and guyliner

By Tara Zandra | November 7, 2012

The week started off poorly with no internet Monday morning. In general Verizon is completely useless when we call and the internet eventually returns as mysteriously as it left. So I dealt with it all day and we used the hotpsot on our phones for some stuff on the netbook, but not too much so as not to eat up all the data. But when Tuesday rolled around and we still had no service I was more than annoyed. Guess I’m addicted to it- oh well, I’ll not be changing that. It was difficult to get some lessons stuff done without the internet and in for the most part I was just thinking bad thoughts about Verizon.

Of course I got to be distracted by all the wonderful last minute political hate on facebook (via my phone, of course). I never did hide or unfriend anyone, but still I’m saddened by how so many of my friends seem to equate their religion with how the country should be run. Even if all the Christians are right and there’s a god, I seriously doubt he would approve of the hatred that spews from so many people in the name of being Christian. Seriously people, take a moment to actually read that damn bible you are fond of throwing in the faces of the rest of us. Thankfully I also have quite a few lovely christian friends whose actions and words are kind, loving, and not judgemental. Oh they may pray for my heathen soul when I’m not around, but as long as they don’t tell me about it, it’s all good :)

Anyway, once Chris was home we went off to vote. It was easy with no wait and we were home in 15-minutes. But the last two days had not been good and I was having trouble coping so we as a family opted to keep the girls home from dance to alleviate scheduling stress from dinner/dance/voting/calling tech support.

The happy ending to that story is not only was Chris not on hold very long with tech support, but they solved the problem. Thank goodness. We then settled in to a night of nail biting as we watched election results roll in. Though I’m pretty moderate, I was very afraid of Romney winning. Daisy saved me from the constant waiting by requesting a trip to Target. By the time we got home, Obama was being called the winner. I felt so much better the rest of the eveing- right up until today when the hatred came back out. Market plunged 300 points- Obama got blamed. Guess what? The gas price in my neighborhood plunged 12¢, can I give Obama credit for that?

But enough of all that. Fluff topic now!!

First there was Captain Jack Sparrow portrayed, as we know, by Johnny Depp.

Never in my life did I care about Johnny Depp until he played Captain Jack. But maybe is was just my fondness for Pirates of the Caribbean? I mean I did spend 7 years of my life not only working on that ride, but I was also a trainer so I knew that ride inside and out.

But then I developed an affinity for Jefferson, aka the Mad Hatter on Once Upon a Time.

Romanian and brooding looks good on him.

Over the summer I encountered a different Mad Hatter via the Mad T Party at California Adventure.

He can really sing, so that plays a huge part in my enjoyment of him.

Lastly we have a new character on Once Upon a Time- Killian Jones, or rather Captain Hook.

Yep, that about sums it up. Didn’t know I had a thing for guyliner, but apparently I do. Or pirates and mad hatters, whichever. Though I’ll pass on these versions.

Considering I was raised listening to Alice Cooper, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised for the eye makeup preference.

G and I have been watching these SyFy miniseries (on Netflix) that are retellings of Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and The Wizard of Oz, and I *love* the Hatter in the Alice one. His costume is less crazy, but he’s sooo adorable.

Just googled the SyFy Hatter- looks like he fits the guyliner bill!

Oh I love me some guyliner…Tom’s never worn it, sadly, but an ex of mine did when he played in his band…and he had prettier hair than mine too. LOL
