Half a sleepover

By Tara Zandra | August 4, 2012

Daisy and a friend of hers have been making plans for a sleepover, but neither is old enough to actually have one. I think my friend and I are waiting until the girls turn 8 since that’s about how older our olders kids were when they started sleepovers. Anyway, Daisy and A have talked about it many, many times and suddenly I remembered a friend of mine mentioning her kid going to half sleepovers so I suggested it to Daisy. She was thrilled, mainly because I think she and A just wanted to wear matching PJs since they happen to have 2 matching nightgowns.

We got the party started after dance a week ago. I served the girls bagle pizzas since pizza is a common sleepover food, then they painted eachother’s toe nails- matching pink and blue for these girly girls- then they played Pretty, Pretty Princess, then they made fortune-telling cootie-catchers, and finally settled in to watch a Tinker Bell movie in their sleeping bags. After the movie they burst into a pillow fight which was not an authorized activity ;) The cootie-catchers were quite the hit as they played them over and over on the drive to A’s house afterwards.

It was a lot of fun and I think it helped them feel as if they’ve had a real sleepover now.

Glad they had so much fun! B is almost 13 and I still prefer half sleepovers. LOL I’m just not a sleepover kind of mom.
