Road Trip, Day 2
By Tara Zandra | November 2, 2011
Today we headed to one of my favorite places in the whole world- The Winchester Mystery House. My mom took me there many times in my life and Chris and I had been once together, but the kids had never been. If I could just be let loose in that house for 2 days I would be in seventh heaven. I always wonder what’s beyond the doors we’re not allowed to pass through.
Pictures are not allowed on the tour itself, unfortunately. The girls enjoyed it just as much as I had hoped. I’ll have to take the back someday to do the flashlight tour which is something I’ve never done.
After the tour we ate lunch in the car and drove to the Children’s Museum. We had been there on our last trip back in 2008, but Daisy doesn’t remember that trip at all so I promised I would take her so she could play in the water area. She was not disappointed.
Next was the art area which was astounding. It was not there on our last trip. Basically you could step into paintings.
After we were done here we walked to the Tech Museum but on the way saw this:
Apparently it’s the world’s largest Monopoly game. Who knew?
We finally made it to the Tech Museum but we were not going to have much time. We really rushed and did what we could. We got in free because of our Science Center membership down here so I felt it was worth it to go even for a short time. Our favorite exhibit was the robot that would spell your name with blocks.
Before we left we were all hungry so we ate in their cafe which was surprisingly a really tasty meal. It was a true cafe in that people from nearby businesses would come here on their lunch break so the food was definitely better than what you might expect in that type of venue. We then hit the gift shop and bought some fun items and then it was time to walk back to the car and go back to our room.

I LOVE the Winchester Mystery house! I’ve been twice and like you I was really itching to see the ENTIRE thing, not just the public areas. It’s like a tease!
