rockets, a tooth, and floats

By Tara Zandra | October 17, 2011

The girls had a rocket class at the Science Center today. Daisy still makes me stay in class with her which was probably a good thing as some of the rocket building was a tad difficult and I helped 2 other kids besides my own. I didn’t jump in though until the teacher was practically begging parents to help as I do want to be able to leave Daisy sometime in the future.

The little kid classes were just a half day but the big kids made rockets to actually launch which was going to be done after lunch. There were a lot of kids and Tabitha wasn’t picked for well over an hour.

When it was finally her turn, Daisy and I went closer to watch and I was videoing it. Nothing happened. She had to wait for the next round. Nothing happened. They changed her motor and then she tried again with the next round and it finally flew and launched her parachute guy. At that point it was a bit anti-climatic.

That evening we had more fun in store in the form of a special event at Disneyland. Annual Passholders wer invited to an upclose vew of the floats in Mickey’s Soundsational Parade after park closing. But first we stood in line to get treats and sat down to enjoy them. Then Daisy tasted something odd in her mouth which turned out to be blood because her tooth had just come out and she swallowed it! That was the second tooth lost at Disneyland and third in a Disney venue (she lost one on the cruise). She was distraught over having swallowed it but we assured her the tooth fairy would understand and still come. The tooth fairy must have really understood because she brought Daisy 5 Disney Dollars.

Next was parade watching time. I really like this parade so that in itself was fun. We then had to wait for it to end and then they brought out most of the floats and parked them on Main Street and the characters and dancers came out as well. We waited in lines to take pictures and even though there were a lot of lines, they moved quickly and it was totally worth it.

B did a rocket class once but went better than how this one sounded. Hers took off really high but they used a chemical reaction to set them off, can’t remember now what they put in the bases. It was cool though. Anyway, AWESOME character photos! That last one makes it look like they were part of the show!
