Twin Peaks- Psych style

By Tara Zandra | December 2, 2010

We had an interesting evening on Monday. We headed out to the Paley Center, formerly the Museum of Television and Radio, for a Psych/Twin Peaks event. First we got to watch this week’s episode of Psych entitled “Dual Spires.” It was really enjoyable, as I’m sure you know by now since it aired last night.

In case you don’t watch Psych (and why don’t you?), this episode was an homage to Twin Peaks, hence all the Twin Peaks’ actors- though they didn’t play their Twin Peaks’ roles. It wasn’t a spoof and the episode can definitely stand alone even if you’ve never seen Twin Peaks at all. Sure you might not get why one lady is carrying a piece of wood, but it still all makes sense in its own context.

After the viewing, there was a panel discussion with James Roday (Shawn Spencer), Dule Hill (Gus), Maggie Lawson (Juliet O‘Hara), Tim Omundson (Carlton Lassiter), and Corbin Bernsen (Henry
Spencer), all from Psych. But there were Twin Peaks cast members too, including Ray Wise (Leland Palmer), Catherine Coulson (Log Lady), Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), Robyn Lively (Lana Budding Milford), Lenny von Dohlen (Harold Smith).

The discussion was led by a TV Guide editor who asked equal questions of both casts, but let me tell you, Ray Wise totally stole the show. He told some funny stories and they were made more amazing with that voice of his. Questions were then turned over to the audience but really there were only a handful of those.

Afterwards, some people stayed to sign autographs and take photos, but it’s not in my nature to push my way up there for that. I was happy to stand a couple rows back and just take a few pics of them with people who were not me.

It was a great evening and I think we’d definitely consider going to more Paley Center events.
