End of the (35th) Road

By Tara Zandra | May 30, 2010

Remember all that fabulous food I mentioned I ate yesterday? Apparently I ate too much of it and I awoke at 4:30 this morning with a stomachache. I was like a 10-year-old the day after Halloween. I did yoga this morning in an attempt to, I don’t know, stretch the pain away? I postponed working out until this evening though as running and jumping did not seem like a good idea.

So today’s celebration started at 11:00 when my mom came over to watch the kids. Then Chris and I hightailed it outta here lovingly kissed our children good-bye and went on our way. First stop was lunch, but our aim was light. We chose Chevy’s and had chips and salsa and side salads. That was enough to satisfy our hunger, but not enough to feel heavy and like we over-indulged (again). Next was Target where I tried on an umpteen number of swimsuits. I didn’t buy one, but I did find exactly what I want; they just didn’t have the right sizes. I need an XL top and an L bottom but they only had it the other way around so now it’s just a matter of finding them at another Target. Thankfully there’s a lot of them around here.

Next we went to an outdoor shopping center which was simply lovely on this gorgeous day. I went to anthropologie because they sent me a coupon for my birthday and I was determined to buy a dress. The only problem is they didn’t have a single long dress for me to try on. There were maybe 3 or 4 long dresses in the whole store and none were even close to my size. But all was not lost as I did buy a necklace and earrings to go with the dress I bought yesterday. My plan to feel good about dresses is to make them complete outfits with jewelry and shoes.

We went in a few different shops and I tried on dresses here and there but never did find one to buy. Chris got a pair of shorts though and I did buy 2 pairs of sandals at Payless’s BOGO sale so I still say the day was a success! Oh, and I bought a mango cutter, like an apple wedger, so as to make my life easier.

We came home a little after 4:30 and then my mom took us to dinner for my birthday. We ended up at Applebee’s where I did order a burger, but it’s not like I finished it and I skipped my usual salad. It was a really nice time out and a great way to end the day.
