we’re a food kind of people

By Tara Zandra | May 14, 2010

We had plans this evening that didn’t quite pan out- as in, they were sorta lame. But the evening was not a total wash because we went to 2 gourmet trucks! They were at the same location but we still drove extra for all the times we circled the block before giving in to the paid parking lot. First was The Frysmith which is french fries but they have vegetarian chili cheese fries. Um, yes please! We had our with sweet potatoes which combined with red onions were so good.

Next we hit up The Sweets Truck for some goodies. Chris had a cake monkey which was like a gourmet Ding Dong- red velvet and raspberry Ding Dong to be exact. I went with something called crack, and I’m guessing it’s called that because of the addiction potential. It was über-rich though so I had to give some to Chris.

Anyway, we do love hitting up these trucks and really any excuse to go out together is a good excuse :)

Edited to add: When we picked up the kids, we passed another gourmet truck so just now we looked up online where they had been and it turns out they are right now down the street from us. We’re not hungry, but we can’t pass this up. Tofu tacos are on my horizon :)

Mmm, I love sweet potato fries - I get them at Beach Pit BBQ all the time.

What a crazy concept, gourmet trucks. I remember your other post about them. I had no idea it was a popular kind of thing. I have never seen or heard of them around here though.
