if you give a mom the internet

By Tara Zandra | April 22, 2010

So I was researching composer and artist biographies. There’s a particular series that I like and I was taking the time to write down all the books so I could then look up their date of births and put them in order. From this I found the author also does a series on scientists and inventors so I added them in as well with some idea of including them in a timeline. Then I found he also has a series on the presidents but I didn’t include them because we already have a timeline of the presidents that Tabitha just finished making. But I still filed that info in the back of my mind.

So now I decided to research ancient world maps which led me to a geography/history site that I have been browsing for the last 2 hours. Let me tell you, they have a curriculum that makes me wish I had found it a couple years ago as Tabitha is too old for it; you can be sure I’m filing that info away for Miss Daisy in a couple years.

But I found a ton of resources and a great curriculum for geography which I’ve always felt we were lacking. All the programs and maps are going to be so beneficial for Tabitha right now. Plus there’s a book that teaches geography through art which kind of brings me full circle to my earlier artists research. Let me tell you, I compiled quite the “to buy” wishlist.

For those that are interested, it’s Geo Matters and the two main guides I’m looking at are Trail Guide to World Geography and Trail Guide to US Geography plus all their accompanying maps and atlases as well as Geography Through Art book.

On a completely unrelated note, Tabitha just read the title of my post aloud to which Chris says, “If you give a mom the internet, she’ll want to buy Naartjie.” Tabitha chimed in with “If she’s buys Naartjie, she’ll want Dad to buy a lottery ticket.”

I’d be offended if it weren’t true.
