light headed

By Tara Zandra | August 18, 2006

So I had about 8-inches cut off my hair yesterday. It was too long for me to wear down so I put it in a ponytail everyday. Unfortunately I have heavy hair so I would get a headache every single day as well. The only thing that gets rid of my headaches is Excedrin which has the added benefit of super-dose caffeine which gives me great energy and makes me feel good. But I have quite the addictive personality so taking things that make me feel good is a bad thing. So the hair had to go.

I admit I went shorter than I normally would because I’m giving it a bit of growing room this way. Right now it’s too short and in complete shock so it’s impossible to do anything with at all. I’m not fond of it, but I don’t look horrible. Long hair just suits me better. I think I need to work more at finding someone to maintain my long hair so it looks good down. I’ve never had a hair stylist or had my hair cut with any consistency. Long and longer is the way my hair lives. Now it’s a freaking mop. If I mousse it I can coax some waves out of it. But using mousse makes me feel like it’s 1985. Of course, I was 11 in 1985 and didn’t use mousse, but I don’t really think that’s the point, now is it?

I need to find a way to deal with it, but I do think it will take a few days for the hair to get over it’s loss and start be willing to learn how to be tamed again. Oh, and my bangs are rebelling as well, despite the fact that no scissors touched them and they shouldn’t be any different than usual. But today I had to really force them with hairspray. I spend so much time and energy trying to give them that “natural” swept to the side look. I usually fail too, lol.
