giddy-up

By Tara Zandra | March 9, 2010

I was feeling in the mood to head out today so I checked the list of free days at museums. The one for today was the Autry Museum of Western Heritage so that’s where we went. It was interesting in some ways, but I really felt it lacked cohesiveness. What I really wanted was for each section to have one sign telling me about the room. There were plenty of signs on the displays to explain each and every artifact, at times it even felt like too many signs. But there were some areas that I simply wasn’t 100% sure exactly what we were seeing in a more general way. We did manage to avoid school groups as much as possible which is always a plus. The girls had a good time and I’d like to go back another day after Tabitha and I get into our California History studies.

    Hi,
Thanks for stopping by the museum on Free Tuesday. Let me know next time you come by - I’ll waive your admission fee. Our next exhibit, “Home Lands: How Women Made the West” opens on April 16.

    Thanks for your input!
