same old size problem

By Tara Zandra | January 6, 2010

This morning Tabitha put on a pair of pants that were skin tight which are the second pair this week needing to go to the “too small” pile. I have a 40% off coupon for Gap that is good on Wednesdays for this month so we headed out. Turns out the kid skipped a size or something. 12s were way too small and she had to try on 14s. When we got home I measured her and then checked sizing charts for jeans on GapKids, Old Navy, and abercrombie and yep, she’s up a size. She barely wore 12s at all. Weird that both kids had such a massive growth this year. Daisy was due at least since she hadn’t really had a spurt in like ever. She was more of a constant, but slow, grower. This year she finally gained weight and grew enough that everyone who knows her could notice. I should probably measure her tomorrow to see how tall she actually is now since it’s been awhile.

Aside from our quick Gap excursion, Tabitha did some lessons and the girls painted rocks from a rock painting kit. You’d think they decorating a gold tiara with the enthusiasm they displayed with the simple act of painting rocks. I think there’s a life lesson in there somewhere, but goodness knows I’m not a deep or serious blogger so I’ll pass on trying to find it.

They also played together before dinner and apparently put together another show. So after dishes and were done, Chris and I were treated to a quick play inspired by the princess and the frog- not the Disney movie, just the general story but with their own special twists.

After dinner, since it was my day off of working out, I finally started Daisy’s robe. She never asked me to make her one because apparently she wasn’t aware that I sewed Tabitha’s robe. She was more than happy to allow me to do so once she found out it was an option. The fleece fabric I chose for her is rubber duckies as she has a collection of them and she loves it enough that she asked me to cut out two of the ducks for her to have and play with. I’ve cut out all the fabric and have a bit leftover so I think I’ll make her a small pillow as well.

What I should be doing is working on the kids’ birthday parties. But I’d rather procrastinate instead.

Gillian did that size thing too - she was a 12 forever, and then she went through size 14 in just a couple of months. It’s crazy when they really get a growth spurt on!
