It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood

By Tara Zandra | January 3, 2010

After breakfast this morning we headed out to Solstice Canyon in Malibu for a hike. It used to be a paved road leading to houses, but fires are not uncommon in Malibu and this hike passes one house in ruins and ends at another. The one it ends at was beautiful and it’s a shame it ended the way it did. Just past the ruins are a small waterfall. There is also a grotto type area that was fun to explore which had ruins of an old fountain. We also explored the small creek, though we never went in it due to how slimy the bottom appeared. There are other, more rugged hikes in Solstice Canyon, but Daisy hates walking so this was more appropriate for us.

Come share the day with us.

What a cool hike. Those houses in ruin are so eerie! Like modern archaeological ruins!
