kicking back

By Tara Zandra | September 22, 2009

I had minor stresses today and was feeling less than stellar this afternoon. I wanted to stay home from gymnastics but chose not to ask Tabitha to do that. Probably should have as I did not have a good time. Debated about eating out once we were home, despite having dinner ready to go in the oven, but wisely never put it in motion. Dinner was good but every little thing was getting on my nerves so I hopped into a relaxing bath with my book. It defniitely helped ease some of the pain in my back, but my neck is still really sore, again, stress related, so Chris is going to rub it for me while we watch TV tonight. Right now I’m listening to a little Weezer and attempting to type out an entry here.

Daisy made a giant mess in the dining room today (she considers it her playroom despite the fact that we have an actual playroom) and I was in no mood to clean it up so I offered to pay Tabitha since she’s trying to get to $100 for our Disney trip. The dining room was so bad she had to stop and think about it, but eventually the lure of money won out so now I have a nice clean room to relax with my headphones. Tabitha charges $3 per service- totally worth it :)

Not worth it would the $36,000+ the county is going to spend on signs to enforce the new “no smoking in parks” law. I’m all for no smoking at parks (or anywhere for that matter) but is now really the time to spend that kind of money on signs?

Tabitha is having a friend for a sleepover this weekend. She’s decided it’s a dance party and is so cute making a playlist in i-tunes. She asked me to buy the clean version of Boom-Boom-Pow because I only have the explicit lyrics version. I grew up in the era of the hated PMRC who started this whole labeling of albums trend. So I still rebel by refusing to buy clean versions. Anyway, I told her not to worry, it only drops one word twice and it’s really no big deal. I’m far more concerned about the meaning of the lyrics in general, but figured they go over her head so I’ll let it go. She also asked for Smooth Criminal and Thriller. Happy to oblige :) Her father and I are not the best people to ask about dance music unless it’s music for a mosh pit, but I think she’ll have a pretty good list in the end.

Got the new Pearl Jam CD this weekend. I listened to about half of it this morning, good stuff. Makes me very psyched for our upcoming concerts! Next Thursday is the first one and then a week later our second show in San Diego which means Chris and I get our own sleepover party :)

Alright, time to hear my favorite Weezer song and then I’ll be off to get that neck rub while watching Chopped.

Night-night all.

I resent the comment that I don’t know dance music. Who has Dee-lite’s “Groove is in the Heart”? Who has Parliament’s “Flashlight”? WHo has Kool and the Gang’s “Jungle Boogie”? Me, that’s who. I’m very funky.

    I swear.

    I don’t think I could buy Gillian’s labor for $300. LOL
