wiped out

By Tara Zandra | June 29, 2009

Man was it a long day. It was fun though so I’m not complaining, I just currently have a headache that needs to go away already.

Anyway, Tabitha has another day camp this week but it’s a tad too far from home for me to drive back and forth. I really don’t want to waste that kind of gas. So Daisy and I will be spending the week occupying ourselves. Today was fun at the zoo!

The zoo didn’t open until 10 and we were there at 9:15 so we shared a snack in the car and hung out for awhile. Eventually it was time to go in and the first thing Daisy saw was a playground. That’s where we spent the first 40 minutes of our zoo trip. I was in no hurry though so it was nice to be able to allow her to take as long as she wanted. She really had a great time going up and down, around and around in the playground. Finally she told me she was ready to see some monkeys!

We hit up the farm area and rode the carousel and the train and fed some goats before moving on. We finally found the monkeys and Daisy was quite taken by the tamarins- who wouldn’t be? They were adorable and really showing off by running and swinging all over the place.

At the back end of the zoo, we sat down on a bench and had our lunch and then Daisy retreated into her own world and played some game on the painted tiles on the ground. Again, I was in no hurry, so I simply sat back with my Diet Coke and enjoyed the breeze. We then went on our way and finished up the rest of the animals before going back to the playground. There were a lot more children this time so Daisy was ready to go after only 15 minutes. We wandered the gift shop where I bought her a tiny stuffed monkey that she proclaimed her baby. We then emptied our pockets of change into the donation center and headed out.

There was still a bit of time before we needed to get Tabitha so we went to the mall and Daisy played in the play area. Needless to say, the kid exhausted herself with all her playing and fell asleep as we pulled into the parking lot of Tabitha’s camp. Tabitha had a fabulous time and chatted happily on the whole drive home telling us all she did. The headache started just before that, so by the time I got home, I started thinking of alternatives to me cooking dinner.

Chris got home not too much after me and we discussed it and decided going out was the way to go. Tabitha chose Souplantation and I happened to have a buy one get one free dinner coupon so off we went. I’ve been taking a lot of Tylenol for my lingering sore throat so I didn’t want to take more today. I figured a nice dinner out would take care of it, but noooo. The restaurant was the freaking Arctic in there and the cold made my head feel so much worse. We still needed to stop at Target afterwards and that’s pretty much where I hit my wall.

So I’ve now taking Tylenol and am sitting in PJs waiting to put Daisy to bed. Then we can get Tabitha off to bed as well and hopefully relaxing with TV with Chris will take care of the lingering pain.

Hmm, I didn’t really mean to type so much about my head, guess I should have blogged after the meds kicked in, lol.
